Leading syndicate Value Racing Club had an excellent afternoon at Ffos Las on Monday with a double, courtesy of Nibras Gold and Walk of The Roses. Both runners are trained by David Pipe. The former, who was bought for 30,000gns in October 2021, was returning from an absence of 258 days and having undergone wind surgery, he made all the running in the two miles handicap hurdle off a mark of 109. A two lengths scorer, it was the five year old's second win over timber. Walk of the Roses was purchased for €12,000 as a three year old and she showed a terrific attitude to fend off a couple of challengers before taking the bumper by a length and three quarters. A four year old filly by Walk In The Park, she can only improve for the experience. Both winners were partnered by Jack Tudor, who was has a good start to his new job at Pond House. Indeed, the 21 year old has a big future.
James Couldwell, racing manager for Value Racing Club, will be busy at the Doncaster May Sales later this week looking for fresh talent. With the assistance of Irish point expert Declan Phelan and yours truly, we have put together a shortlist for the sale. If you would like to get involved in the syndicate, please head to the valueracingclub.co.uk website.
There was a strong word for the Richard Fahey debutant Malc before his debut at Carlisle on Monday and the son of Calyx didn't disappoint winning by two and a quarter lengths. Bought for 140,000gns at the breeze-ups last month, there is a feeling he will be better over six furlongs and don't be surprised if he lines up in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot next month. The Musley Bank outfit are expected to unleash two more promising juveniles this week starting at Ayr on Wednesday.
