Magisterial (9/4) was given a very good front running ride by Frankie Dettori in the ten furlongs novice stakes at Leicester on Saturday. The Frankel colt won at Haydock as a juvenile and he defied a penalty at the Midlands track fending off the challenge of the highly regarded Ruling Dynasty who had reportedly been working well with Group horses prior to his racecourse debut. A length and a half length winner, there is every possibility the John and Thady Gosden trained winner will contest the Dante Stakes at York next month. I suspect it will turn out to be an above average novice stakes with the winner defying a penalty from a couple of highly promising types, including the third Crystal Delight. Magisterial provided the Top 40 Prospects in Ahead On The Flat with its 10th winner from only 15 runners, while the second Ruling Dynasty is featured in the Appendix and the third Crystal Delight in the Stable Gossip.
The Ballydoyle Juveniles section in AOTF has already unearthed Blackbeard, Meditate and The Antarctic and the feature also highlighted Aesop's Fable (7/4) who made a winning start to his career in the opening five furlongs event at Navan. A colt by No Nay Never who is a half brother to the high-class sprinter Washington DC, he quickened up smartly to win going away by two and a quarter lengths. He looks every inch a Royal Ascot two year old.
The Talking Trainers section also had a productive day with Ava Go Joe (5/1), Boardman (3/1), Happy Power (9/4), Kitsune Power (7/2) and State Legend (100/30) winning.
