The Maidens In Waiting section in Ahead On The Flat was amongst the winners at Newmarket on Saturday with Cadre Du Noir making an impressive return to action. The same feature also includes Derevo (page 112) and Sir Michael Stoute's Dansili colt proved a well treated youngster as he bolted up on his handicap debut at Pontefract on Sunday. Racing off a mark of 83, Ryan Moore's mount made all the running before powering away to register a five lengths success. Disappointing at Chelmsford on his previous start, the Prince Khalid Abdulla owned colt was back to form with avengeance at the West Yorkshire venue. It will be interesting to see where Derevo heads next because his connections have nearly a fortnight to run him under a penalty before racing off his revised mark, which will be bordering on or around 90. Alternatively, he may be saved for the valuable ten furlongs handicap for three year olds at Newmarket's July meeting - there is an £80,000 added 0-105 handicap on Friday 12th July.
