Warren Greatrex was complimentary when discussing Petticoat Tails on page 79 of One Jump Ahead and the well bred daughter of Presenting made an excellent start to her career when winning the mares' bumper by twelve lengths. The four year old chased the more experienced and older rival Goodgirlteresa for much of the contest but had Neil King's runner's measure by the two marker before galloping clear to win easily. The race almost certainly lacked depth but it was an encouraging effort and it will be interesting to see if she heads to Huntingdon for a Listed mares' bumper before being saved for similar events in the spring at Sandown and Aintree.
The conclusion of the juvenile hurdle was dominated by ex-Flat racers Coeur De Lion and Forth Bridge but I feel the best long-term prospect may prove to be the third Indirocco. A gelding by Shirocco, he is a half-brother to Paul Nicholls' Grade 1 winning hurdler Irving and is trained by Dan Skelton. He held every chance jumping the third last but lacked the experience and gears of the front two. Considering it was the first time he had stepped foot on a racecourse, it was a highly promising performance and he is one to keep an eye on.
