Musical Slave made a disappointing start to his hurdling career at Market Rasen, to say the least. Philip Hobbs' gelding had shown a lot of promise in a bumper at the Punchestown Festival last spring - in a race which has worked out very well. However, the son of Getaway gelding drifted from 9/4 to 11/4 shortly before the off and, having jumped the first slowly, was never a factor eventually finishing a tailed off sixth of seven finishers. The rain softened ground may not have been ideal but we know the four year old is capable of much better. The run has to be too bad to be true, rather like the same connections' Dostal Phil at Bangor on his hurdling debut this Autumn.
Otherwise it wasn't a bad day for One Jump Ahead with the likes of Acting Lass (Evens), Captain Cattistock (4/1) and Drumcliff (100/30) winning at Market Rasen and Wincanton. Just a reminder, I currently have less than 40 copies of One Jump Ahead left. If anyone would like to order one with Christmas approaching, please head to the Publications section of the site.
