The Cheltenham Festival is only a matter of weeks away now but I have been busy interviewing for the forthcoming edition of Ahead On The Flat during the last fortnight. On Thursday, I spent over an hour with Tim Easterby running through his team of horses for the 2022 campaign. The Great Habton yard had their best ever season last year with 136 winners in the UK and total prize-money of £2,018,759. They included Group 1 success for Winter Power who blitzed her rivals in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August. In addition to discussing the stable's three year olds and older horses, Tim has kindly handpicked seven of his new crop of two year olds - regular readers will be aware Tim nominated the aforementioned Winter Power in the 2020 edition of AOTF.
I have now completed the Talking Trainers section and the full list is Andrew Balding, Ralph Beckett, George Boughey, Michael Dods, Tim Easterby, James Ferguson, William Haggas, Kevin Ryan and Roger Varian. It is a superb line up. In between working on AOTF and the OJA Cheltenham Festival Update, I will be updating the Publications section of the website with all the details of the new edition, plus the Update.
