Top 40 entry Cash came within a short head of winning the Group 3 Classic Trial at Sandown on Friday and, as a result, was cut to as short as 16/1 for the Epsom Derby in June. There is no doubt the Shamardal colt is a highly promising three year old but I would be wary about getting involved antepost. There is every possibility the grey will be steered towards the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood (20th May) before heading to Royal Ascot for the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes (17th June) - Simcock won the former event with Algometer (2016) and the latter with Balios (2015). The last named was also a son of Shamardal.
