Ahead On The Flat may have unearthed two future stars on Thursday, including the beautfully bred Jubiloso (11/4) at Chelmsford. The daughter of Shamardal is out of Joyeuse and therefore from the family of Frankel. Sir Michael Stoute's filly didn't race at two but she looks ready to make up for lost time, judged on her impressive win on her debut over six furlongs at the Essex track. Racing in mid division on the rail, Ryan Moore's mount quickened up before running on strongly inside the final furlong and a half to win going away by two and three quarters of a length. It's early days, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Jubiloso given an entry in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Alternatively, she could be one for the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at the same fixture. Her pedigree suggests she will have no trouble staying seven furlongs, although Prince Khalid Abdulla's filly certainly isn't short of speed. She is very much one to follow.
The Ballydoyle Juveniles section in Ahead On The Flat is two from two following Pistoletto's (11/10) demolition job in the opening two year old event at Tipperary. A colt by War Front, he displayed a high cruising speed before bounding clear inside the final furlong. Aidan O'Brien's charge crossed the line five and a half lengths in front of American Lady with his rider Donnacha O'Brien mentioning the Norfolk Stakes at the Royal meeting afterwards. Like Jubiloso, he looks a tremendous prospect with a big future.
I am heading south tomorrow to work in the Racing TV studios over the weekend and then Thirsk on Monday evening. Therefore I will update the Diary early next week. Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to order a copy of Ahead On The Flat, if you haven't already.
