'Glorious' Goodwood gets underway on Tuesday and Mark Johnston is the leading trainer at the meeting with 89 winners and has been crowned top handler at the fixture on 13 occasions. Mister Baileys provided the head of Kingsley House Stables with his first winner in the Group 3 Vintage Stakes in 1993.
The stable have 7 runners on the first day, including the unbeaten Dornoch Castle in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes. Johnston has won the seven furlongs event on four occasions. Later in the week, I suggest keeping an eye out for another Johnston trained juvenile, namely Miss Dynamic, in the seven furlongs fillies' maiden on Thursday (5.20). A daughter of first season stallion Cracksman, she is a half-sister to stablemate Kings Prince and Listed winner Aljezeera - both of those older siblings won on their racecourse debuts. Champion elect William Buick is set to partner the 78,000gns purchase and a big performance is anticipated.
I am continuing to work on the new edition of One Jump Ahead - I am not racing until Saturday evening at Hamilton so it is a good opportunity to get some more interviews done. On Monday, I spoke to a leading bloodstock agent regarding some exciting recruits who have joined Gordon Elliott and Henry De Bromhead during the summer. There is no doubt the leading stables in Britain and Ireland are getting stronger with a huge amount of investment earlier this year.
