Leading bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley's article Bromley's Best Buys in One Jump Ahead have been in good form and the trend continued on Wednesday with Archie Brown (11/4) and Fidelio Vallis (5/6) scoring at Market Rasen and Wincanton respectively. The pair are trained by Paul Nicholls and they can only improve with experience. The latter was runner-up over hurdles at Auteuil when handled by Laurent Viel but had failed to trouble the judge on his first couple of starts for his new connections. The saddle reportedly slipped on his UK bow at Uttoxter and then he was beaten when a faller at the last at Chepstow. However, it was a different story at his local track as the Saints Des Saints gelding bounded away with the two miles novice hurdle winning by a dozen lengths. One would expect him to come into his own when stepped up in distance and it will be interesting to see what mark he is given following this win. Long-term, he is the sort to make his chasing bow in the Autumn in a novices' handicap chase running off his hurdles rating. The five year old is worth keeping an eye on both in the short and long-term.
Talking of ratings, First Account is certainly paying his way off attractive looking marks at present. Highlighted as a horse to follow both in OJA and the February Update, the Malinas gelding has won two from two since being transferred to Keith Dalgleish winning twice within eight days at Musselburgh. Successful over fences at the Scottish track on his first run for his new handler off a mark of 117, he was switched back to hurdles on Wednesday off the same rating and therefore six pounds 'well in' compared to his new chase mark. Stepped up to three miles, the six year old travelled strongly before producing a big leap at the last which sealed his victory. A two lengths scorer, it will be a surprise if he doesn't win a few more before his summer holiday.
