Gaelic Warrior, featured in the Top 40 Prospects in One Jump Ahead, relished the step up to three miles in the Grade 1 Irish Mirror Novice Hurdle on the second day of the Punchestown Festival. The ex-French gelding, who found Impaire Et Passe too speedy in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, was patiently ridden by Paul Townend. Pulled off the rail early in the homestraight, he quickened up to lead going to the final flight before powering away to register a ten lengths win. Chasing will be on the six year old's agenda next winter and he is a hugely exciting prospect.
Junta Marvel (4/1) is highlighted in the Unraced Bumper Horses feature and she made it two from two when taking the concluding bumper by a couple of lengths. The daughter of Masked Marvel had won in good style on her debut at Limerick at the end of last month and she followed up here in convincing fashion. Jody Townend's travelled strongly and was pushed clear inside the final furlong and is a fine jumping prospect for the fiuture.
The interview with Lucinda Russell in the Aintree Update continues to yield winners with the fast improving Giovinco (10/1) landing the Listed staying novice hurdle at Perth on Wednesday. The Walk In The Park gelding had won at Ayr and Carlisle over the intermediate trip but had left the impression he would be even better over three miles. Travelling strongly throughout, he barely came off the bridle before winning hard held by a dozen lengths. Needless to say, the six year old is another terrrific chasing prospect for his all conquering stable.
