Garden Route, featured in the Maidens In Waiting section in Ahead On The Flat, made his belated seasonal reappearance following a break of 229 days and produced an impressive performance to win the one mile novice stakes at Windsor by nearly three lengths. A well bred son of Galileo out of a Grade 1 winner in South Africa, he had shown promise in both starts last year and subsequently underwent a wind operation. Tom Marquand's mount was handy throughout and readily pulled clear to win decisively. He is an interesting propostion for the valuable three year old handicaps this summer.
