Placed twice at the Cheltenham Festival, Allaho hadn't shone in two runs earlier this season but appreciated the drop back to two and a half miles in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles on Wednesday. Given a positive ride by Paul Townend, the seven year old had a slight tendency to jump to his left and went quick enough early - Balko Des Flos took him on during the early stages. Overcoming a slight mistake at the second last, his stablemate Elimay looked a big threat going to the final fence but Allaho found more and won comfortably by three lengths. Willie Mullins indicated afterwards that the Cheveley Park Stud owned gelding will head straight to the Cheltenham Festival in an attempt to make it third time lucky. The Ryanair Chase will be his target and he is expected to be joined by stablemate Melon.
