The Top 40 Prospects in Ahead On The Flat have been in good form this month and that continued when Dawn Patrol won a Group 3 at the Curragh on Sunday. Aidan O'Brien's three year old had run creditably in the St Leger a couple of weeks ago finishing sixth behind compatriot Galileo Chrome. Stepping up to two miles for the first time at the weekend, Seamie Heffernan's mount enjoyed a dream run through on the far rail before staying on well to win by three parts of a length. The half-brother to Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi is entered in the Group 2 Long Distance Cup at Ascot on champions day next month and it would be no surprise to see him take up that engagement with his stamina guaranteed. The 33/1 on offer with Skybet is very tempting.
I am heading north of the border once again on Monday for a seven race card at Hamilton Park. It is the Scottish track's final fixture of 2020. I will therefore update the Diary on my return. If you haven't already ordered a copy of One Jump Ahead or the Updates, please head to the Publications section of the site.
