The one time Derby hope and Top 40 Prospects entry Midterm had proved disappointing in three starts earlier in the season. However, Sir Michael Stoute's four year old has seemingly benefited from a wind operation, judged on his ready win in a conditions event at Epsom this afternoon. The son of Galileo had finished last of six in a Listed contest at Newmarket last time, but he was a different proposition at the Surrey track. Dropping back to ten furlongs, he reeled in Mount Logan before powering two and a half lengths clear. While he coped with this shorter trip, it would be no surprise to see him return to further with something like the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge at Ascot (7th October) appealing as a possible target. It is ten years since the stable last won the race with Ask.
