Following two winning selections, it was a case of coming back to earth as far as the Email Service is concerned. In trouble halfway down the straight, the selection was eventually pulled up and it was later reported that he had bled from the nose. It was frustrating because I don't think the race took a great deal of winning. Typically, the trainer went on to send out an across the card double. I am afraid it was one of those days - fingers crossed for a better one tomorrow.
There was some good action at Uttoxeter with Charbel winning a very good two mile beginners' chase. Kim Bailey's gelding made all and withstood the challenges of Le Prezien and Top Notch. It won't be long before the second and third win over fences with the pair jumping well. It is also possible they will benefit from slower ground later in the season.
One Forty Seven (5/1) is featured in Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers in One Jump Ahead but Nigel Twiston-Davies' gelding hasn't enjoyed the best of fortunes since racing under Rules. Very unlucky on his hurdles debut at Market Rasen when hampered at the first flight resulting him parting company with his rider, he then crossed the line in front in the two and a half mile novices' hurdle at Uttoxeter this afternoon only to be disqualified and placed second having caused interference close home. Well backed beforehand, lets hope its a case of third time lucky next time we see him because there is no doubt he is talented.
I am working at Wetherby tomorrow and then planning to go to Carlisle on Sunday for what looks a very good card. I will therefore update the Diary early next week.
