Twenty four hours after Clondaw Caitlin's (12/1) victory at Wetherby, Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section in One Jump Ahead unearthed another useful looking prospect in French Dynamite (6/1). Despite drifting in the market beforehand, Mouse Morris' new recruit won the two miles maiden hurdle at Thurles by a length and a quarter and left the impression he will be even better over further. A point winner for Donnchadh Doyle last May, he was bought five days later for £165,000 by Mags O'Toole on behalf of owners Robcour. The Kentucky Dynamite gelding was always handy on his Rules debut under Robbie Power and, having led at the last, he stayed on strongly on the run-in. Still only four, he is unlikely to be plunged into the deep end too soon and, while his long-term future lies over fences, there are plenty of races to be won with him over hurdles in the meantime.
