Royal Ascot winner Coppice (11/2) regained the winning thread in the Listed Rosemary Stakes at Newmarket on Friday. The Kingman filly was below par in the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown last time but she returned to form on the Rowley Mile. Challenging on the outside, the John and Thady Gosden trained filly found plenty for pressure to lead close home and prevail by half a length from Potapova. Owned by Juddmonte, she is set to continue her career in the US and has certainly justified her position in the Top 40 Prospects.
Talking of the Top 40, Maljoom looked rusty on his first start for 472 days in the Group 2 Joel Stakes later on the card. The former German 2000 Guineas was slowly away and found himself in rear from an early stage. While keeping on in the closing stages, the William Haggas trained couldn't land a blow and will hopefully improve upon this effort next time.
It is hard to believe the third and final runner from the Top 40, namely New London, didn't win the Listed Dubai Godolphin Stakes. William Buick's partner appeared to be in control for much of the final three furlongs but he couldn't get passed the gutsy Tregony and was denied by a head. The pair pulled seven lengths clear of the rest.
