4 out of 7 for Nicholls bumper horses

The 10 unraced bumper horses selected by Paul Nicholls in One Jump Ahead (pages 107 - 108) continue to go from strength to strength with Jackpot Des Bordes scoring on his debut at Hereford on Wednesday. The Vision D'Etat gelding who cost €120,000 as a three year old looked a strong stayer as he pulled away inside the final furlong to win by nearly three lengths. So far, seven of those selected by the champion trainer have raced producing form figures of 4111231. The four winners have been Jackpot Des Bordes, Kap Boy, Regent's Stroll and Touquet. 

Even though he finished a disappointing fourth in the staying handicap chase at Wetherby on Wednesday, I haven't lost faith in Jet Legs winning races over fences. I feared the worst before the off when Sean Quinlan was stood down due to feeling unwell and replaced by a jockey who has never partnered Martin Todhunter's charge. While holding every chance in the homestraight, he failed to fire and is better than he showed here.
