It was the news all racing fans have been anxiously waiting for and it was announced at around 4pm on Saturday that the action will resume at Newcastle on Monday (1st June). It has been a horrible week wondering whether the Government would give the sport the green light but thankfully it received the thumbs up and it is a huge relief. It would have been a massive anti-climax had it been stalled once again, especially given the line up of races at the likes of Newmarket, Haydock and Lingfield at the backend of next week/weekend.
It is therefore the ideal time to purchase a copy of Ahead On The Flat and the Updates, if you haven't already done so. We have less than 150 copies remaining, so please get your orders in. As regards the Updates, the first one is for Royal Ascot, which is scheduled to take place between the 16th - 20th June. For full details, please go to the Publications section of the site.
In terms of the horses featured in AOTF, there are two declared runners on Monday/Tuesday who feature in the Top 40 Prospects. These are found on pages 10 and 46 and I am optimistic of a bold showing from the pair. I would also suggest readers keep an eye on the fourth horse down on page 74. Set to make her racecourse debut on Tuesday (2nd June), she is very highly regarded and I will be disappointed if she doesn't go very close.
Next week, we can look forward to the 1000 and 2000 Guineas in England and France, plus the Group 1 Coronation Cup, Lingfield Derby & Oaks Trials, Brigadier Gerard Stakes, Classic Trial, Abernant Stakes and a host of two year old events. It promises to be a terrific week. Pour yourself a glass of something this evening and have a good look at those entries - it is time to do some work at long last.
