The February Update was sent out to clients on Friday evening (6.46pm). If anyone hasn't received it, please let me know as soon as possible. There is still time to order a copy (£6.00). Please head to the Publications section of the site if you haven't already done so.
The 20 page Update has a detailed look at the Cheltenham Festival handicaps with a number of suggestions for races such as the Close Brothers Novices' Handicap Chase, Coral Cup, County Hurdle and Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle. In addition, there is an ante-post selection for the Randox Health Grand National and full analysis of the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday week.
There are also new horses to watch out including French recruits and a couple of interesting juvenile hurdlers.
Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers in One Jump Ahead have been in splendid form this week. Cill Anna (5/2) made it back to back wins at Wincanton on Thursday defying a penalty in the process. Keep Wondering (3/1) won by ten lengths on his chasing debut at Ffos Las during the same afternoon, while Springfield Fox (7/1) was spectacular at Chepstow on Friday. Tom George's grey, who won three Irish points before joining his current yard, had failed to win in three runs over hurdles but it was a different ball game over fences at the Welsh track. The Sagamix gelding made all and jumped brilliantly and crossed the line twelve lengths in front in the novices' handicap chase off a lenient looking mark of 117.
There is some terrific action over the weekend, especially the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown. I will be back to update the Diary shortly.
