Due to the fact I want to have a look at the final declarations for Saturday's cards, the February Update will be emailed to clients on Thursday rather than Wednesday, which was the original proposed publishing date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. There is still time to order a copy - please go to the Publications section of the site. The Update is £8.00 and it includes a detailed look at some of the handicaps at the forthcoming Cheltenham Festivals.
I didn't think we would have to wait until the final day of January but it was good to see Ghandi Maker (4/1) finally get his head in front at Newcastle on Tuesday. The Stuart Coltherd trained gelding should have won at Ayr in October but a bad mistake at the third last knocked the stuffing out of him and the seven year old was reeled in after the last. Bitterly disappointing on his next two starts, the former Irish pointer was returning from a break of 63 days and dropped back to the minimum trip in the 0-100 two miles handicap chase at Gosforth Park. Ridden for the first time by Ross Chapman, he was always to the fore and his jumping was much more assured. Staying on well in the homestraight, he landed plenty of bets to win by a length and a quarter off a mark of 89. He is more than capable of winning again. The best things come to those who wait.......apparently.
