Without Prejudice a useful one for Unraced section

The beautifully bred Without Prejudice is featured in the Unraced Three Year Olds section in Ahead On The Flat. Trained by John & Thady Gosden, she is from the family her connections know well being a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Emily Upjohn, who was a brilliant filly on her day. Bought for 240,000gns as a yearling, the daughter of Starman made her belated racecourse bow in a ten furlongs fillies' novice stakes on the July course at Newmarket on Friday evening. Sent off 3/1, Robert Havlin's mount quickened up nicely before easing passed the short price favourite and Salisbury winner Aleatrix inside the final quarter of a mile before pulling away to register a four and a half lengths win. She is already a valuable commodity given her pedigree and I am sure connections will be endeavouring to gain some black type during the Autumn. It will be interesting to see how far she can progress. 

I am working at Hamilton Park on Saturday evening with 66 runners declared to run, which is a major increase on twelve months ago when only 39 runners lined up. Perhaps the reason is the fact there has been over 30mm of rain since last Sunday and the word soft features in the going description, which is refreshing following such a relentless spell of hot weather. The feature event is the Soba Handicap over five furlongs. Ed Bethell has a strong team heading north of the border, including Corolla Point in the aforementioned main event. Unbeaten at the track, he will appreciate the slower ground and it is worth noting he entered the four year old in the Group 1 Prix de L'Abbaye at Longchamp (4th October). The nagging doubt is his draw in stall 11 because most of the early pace is amongst those berthed in low stalls. If he can overcome that, he ought to go close.
