Irish Pointers winner Poppa Poutine (13/2)

Paul Nicholls has been devastating form this Autumn / early Winter with 27 winners in October and 35 in November. The former multiple champion trainer couldn't have started December much better either with 3 winners from as many runners at Southwell on Tuesday. Glajou (5/2), Lucky One (5/6) and Barbados Buck's (4/7) all featured in Paul's interview in the Talking Trainers section of One Jump Ahead.

Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section was also amongst the winners at the Nottinghamshire track with Poppa Poutine (13/2) scoring on his handicap debut. Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, the Sholokhov gelding had finished fourth over three miles at Cheltenham in late October and appreciated the drop in grade here. Previously handled in Ireland by Denis Murphy, the four year old was purchased for £100,000 in February and was having only his third start for his new connections. Making all, he stayed on dourly to win by a length and three quarters.
