Ed Bethell spoke enthusiastically about the once raced Paborus (9/4) on page 76 of Ahead On The Flat saying: "One of our exciting prospects, he is a lovely big horse who was immature last year............. has the potential to develop into a Pattern horse. Seven furlongs or a mile is likely to be his trip and he could be a Britannia / Jersey Stakes horse at Royal Ascot." Indeed, he was the Middleham based handler's horse to follow for 2024. The son of Recoletos outclassed his eleven opponents in the seven furlongs novice stakes at Redcar on Thursday winning by three and three quarters of a length. Drawn in stall six, the Callum Rodriguez ridden winner soon tacted across to the favoured far side and never looked like relinquishing his advantage. He looks ready for a step up in grade and it will be interesting to see where he heads next.
