As discussed, I am currently working on the Royal Ascot Update which will be emailed to clients on Sunday 14th June. The Update will include a select bunch of unraced two year olds who have reportedly impressed their trainers in recent weeks. Those nominated belong to some powerful yards in the north and south. If you haven't ordered the Royal Ascot Update, or the other two Updates, please head to the Publications section of the site.
The Top 40 Prospects in Ahead on The Flat continue to churn out the winners, although King of Earth made heavy weather of scoring in the second division of the one mile maiden at Wolverhampton on Monday evening. William Haggas' runner had performed well on his first couple of outings during the spring and gained a deserved victory at the Midlands track. Overcoming his wide draw (stall 11), Tom Marquand's mount was forced to dig deep to get the better of the longtime leader Marquessofanglesey prevailing by a nose. While confessing to being a bit disappointed initially, it is possible the first three home are quite useful. The third, Seven Sisters, who features in the Unraced Three Year Olds section, stayed on strongly and it won't be long before she sheds her maiden tag and the trio were four and a half lengths clear of the fourth. In addition, the winning time was nearly four seconds quicker than the first division in an event which was run in atrocious conditions.
The entries for the £200,000 John Smith's Cup at York (11th July) were published on Tuesday morning with 3 of the 89 entries featured in the Top 40 Prospects. They include those covered on pages 10, 33 and 44 of AOTF.
