The Top 40 Prospects in AOTF had a successful day on Wednesday with two winners from two runners, namely Bittalemon (5/2) and Night Raider (4/1) at Catterick and Kempton Park respectively. It was particularly pleasing to see the latter gets his career back on track with a decisive victory at the Sunbury track. The drop back to six furlongs has proved beneficial with Karl Burke's colt showing plenty of early speed before staying on strongly to win the conditions event by two and a half lengths. Unbeaten on the all-weather, it remains to be seen whether he runs again before the end of the year but he remains a bright sprinting prospect for next year.
Another batch of copies of One Jump Ahead were sent out on Wednesday and more will follow on Thursday and Friday this week.
The bumper at Warwick on Thursday was won by the subsequent Betfair Hurdle winner Soaring Glory in 2019. Fergal O'Brien commented on page 96 of One Jump Ahead: "Kaylan is a gorgeous unraced horse who joined us during the spring. We haven't done a lot with him yet but we like what we see and he is a beautiful horse." Transferred from Ben Pauling in early April, the four year old ran out an impressive winner on his debut under a confident ride by Kielan Woods. Having been held up, the Protectionist gelding made smooth headway before the home straight before showing a smart turn of foot to quicken clear from the runner-up Deep Purple (the latest version not ex-Evan Williams trained). He covered the last two furlongs in 12.05 and 12.32 seconds according to Race Iq. A length and a quarter winner, it will be interesting to see if he is targeted at the Listed bumper at Cheltenham's Paddy Power meeting (17th November). Owned by the Megsons, he looks a tremendous prospect for this season and beyond.
You won't find Kaylan in any other horses to follow guide for the jumps season - head to the Publications section of the site to order a copy of One Jump Ahead, if you haven't already done so.
