Military Academy, one of the entries in the Unraced Three Year Olds in Ahead On The Flat, has rapidly developed into a smart middle distance performer winning at Listed level at Kempton on Monday. The John and Thady Gosden trained colt didn't make his debut until late August when beating the useful The Reverend at Hamilton Park. Having followed up under a penalty at Salisbury in September, the son of Fastnet Rock was beaten decisively by Burdett Road at Newmarket a fortnight later. However, he made amends in no uncertain manner at the Sunbury track. Leading over two out, Kieran Shoemark's mount was pushed clear to beat the 108 rated Aimeric by three and a quarter lengths. It remains to be seen whether he continues on the all-weather during the winter or is tried in one of the valuable prizes in the Far East early next year. Either way, he is a terrific prospect for middle distance Group races in 2025.
Forty eight hours after Sardinian Warrior's demolition job on his handicap debut at Southwell, another Top 40 entry Tawajjah justified cramped odds to win the nine furlongs novice stakes at Wolverhampton on Monday. Roger Varian's colt had finished runner-up on his two previous outings, including behind Sardinian Warrior, and was entitled to score here. Rated 82, he will be an interesting four year old handicapper next term.
