Thank you very much to those clients who have ordered a copy of Ahead On The Flat and the Updates, plus the One Jump Ahead Aintree Grand National Update. Just to remind subscribers, the Grand National Update, which focuses on the three days at Aintree this week, will be emailed on Tuesday (7th April) evening.
There is still time to order a copy of the Update - please head to the Publications section of the site. I had an enjoyable day at Haydock Park on Saturday and managed to speak to a few trainers and their assistants regarding a number of horses running at Aintree, plus a horse to watch out for at the Scottish National meeting at Ayr later this month. News of those will be included in the Aintree Update.
The highlight of the day at the Merseyside track was the Value Racing Club owned Walden winning the staying handicap hurdle series Final. Trained by Tom Lacey, the six year old was winning for the fourth time in his last five starts and defying an eight pounds rise for his victory at Ascot on his previous start. Racing towards the inside throughout under Stan Sheppard, the Waldpark gelding showed a willing attitude to see of the challenge of Blue Carpet on the run-in to prevail by a length and a quarter. Understandably, racing manager James Couldwell and the members were delighted aftewards having earned £20,576 for first prize. The ex-Tom Weston inmate has earned total prize-money of £43,882 and another terrific advert for the syndicate.
