The Unraced Three Year Old section in AOTF features the John and Thady Gosden trained French Master (11/4) and the well bred son of Frankel improved significantly from his debut to win on his second start at Doncaster on Friday. Owned and bred by Normandie Stud, the half-brother to Royal Ascot winner Mohaafeth was green on his racecourse bow at Sandown less than three weeks ago. Stepping up to a mile and a half here in the same novice stakes which his stablemate and subsequent Group 3 winner Sweet William had landed twelve months earlier, French Master responded to pressure to two out before hitting the front soon afterwards and staying on strongly to win by a length and a quarter. He will qualify for handicaps following one run and could be an interesting prospect for the decent three year old middle distance / staying handicaps during the second half of the season. It is not beyond the realms of possibility he will stay further and emerge as a live contender for something like the Melrose Stakes at York next month.
