For the fourth time, Tim Easterby trained over a hundred winners on the Flat in 2023. The Great Habton operation sent out 109 winners on the domestic front, including a much deserved and belated Group 1 victory for stable star Art Power in the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot in October. Indeed, the six year old had a terrific campaign winning a couple of Group 2 events at the Curragh as well. The grey is unbeaten in five visits across the Irish Sea which is a remarkable statistic in his own right. On Wednesday, I ran through the stable's 2024 team, including some interesting new recruits which were acquired at the Horses in Training Sale at Newmarket last Autumn. Tim also kindly nominated over a dozen two year olds to watch out for, including four who belong to King Power.
The Talking Trainers section in Ahead On The Flat is looking particularly strong with Andrew Balding, Ralph Beckett, Ed Bethell, George Boughey, Karl Burke, Tim Easterby, William Haggas and Roger Varian all featured.
I am working at Carlisle on Thursday and will then resume work on the Cheltenham Festival Update. The first day entries were published on Wednesday afternoon. Ominously, Willie Mullins is responsible for 9 of the 15 entries in the Skybet Supreme Novices' Hurdle which opens the fixture. Please head to the Publications section of the site to order your copy, if you haven't already done so. The Update will be emailed to clients on Sunday pm (10th March).
