On Wednesday afternoon, I spoke to fourteen times champion National Hunt trainer Paul Nicholls. Despite the recent news of a few equine departures from Ditcheat, Paul was in bullish mood and very much looking forward to the winter ahead. While he doesn't plan to have a massive team for the three day Chepstow meeting in mid October, he is certainly pinpointing some of the valuable prizes on offer. The stable stars have reportedly summered well and the is a formidable team of youngsters, too. The squad has been swelled with some potentially exciting recruits from the Irish point field and Paul has turned to old ally and bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley and bought a couple of smart three years old from France. That pair will go juvenile hurdling this term.
Talking of the Newmarket based agent, Anthony has kindly passed on news of some of Simon Munir & Isaac Souede's youngsters which have been rehoused during the summer. These include bumper horses and Irish pointers. All the information will be included in the new edition of One Jump Ahead, which will be published in the Autumn.
