It was good to see Top 40 entry Sea Just In Time get her career back on track with victory at Kempton on Wednesday evening. William Haggas' well bred filly hadn't been seen since running below par in Listed company at Goodwood nearly two months ago. Stepping up to a mile and a half for the first time, she defied her penalty to beat the 88 rated Beeley by a length. While the performance lacked the wow factor which surrounded her debut win at Newmarket in April, it was encouraging to see her return to winning ways. It will be interesting to see if she is given an entry in the Listed Galtres Stakes at York in less than a fortnight or is given more time.
During the last 48 hours, I have spoken to triple French champion jockey James Reveley, who ran through the most exciting prospects which have since joined British and Irish yards. James pinpointed two horses in particular which he feels are top-class and likely to make a major impact at next March's Cheltenham Festival. He also passed on the latest news regarding Grade 1 winning novice chaser Il Est Francais.
Dual Grand National winning trainer Lucinda Russell has added to her team during the spring/summer with a clutch of new recruits from the Irish pointing field. The Kinross based handler has also acquired a strong looking team of junior bumper/hurdle horses for this winter.
Finally, Rich Ricci's racing manager Joe Chambers kindly ran through the 'pink and green' team which includes three exciting additions from France. Rich and Susannah Ricci have had 99 Grade 1 winners and it won't be long before that number is added to this term.
