Apologies for not updating the Diary for a couple of days. I was working at Aintree on Saturday and it was an excellent days racing with Colonel Harry providing the highlight in the Grand Sefton Chase. Jamie Snowden have done a terrific job with the eight year old who was returning from an absence of 311 days. The Shirocco gelding was close to losing his life last winter having got an infection in his hind leg before spending time in hospital. Given a fine ride by Gavin Sheehan, he picked up strongly once switched to the outside before staying on strongly after the second last.
During the afternoon, I watched the Grade 2 Rising Stars Novices' Chase from Wincanton alongside Dan Skelton and asked him about a few of his intended runners at Cheltenham next weekend. News of those will be included in the November Update, which will be emailed to clients on Thursday. There was one horse, in particular, Dan is keen on for the three day meeting.
Paul Nicholls' former assistant is heading to Carlisle on Monday, where I will be too, with the stable due to have seven runners, including two who feature in the Top 40. It promises to be another informative afternoon and one I am very much looking forward to. It is also an opportunity to catch up with a few more jockeys and trainers regarding future plans etc.
If you haven't ordered the November Update, or the other four Updates, please head to the Publications section of the site.
