Bromley's Best Buys first time out winner @ 11/2

The Bromley's Best Buys section in AOTF has been in good form recently and that trend continued on Tuesday. Leading bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley highlighted Zavateri (11/2) as a two year old to follow and the Eve Johnson Houghton trained runner scored at the first time of asking at Salisbury. Well bought at 35,000gns, the son of Without Parole had to wait for a gap before showing good acceleration to win division two of the six furlongs novice stakes at the Wiltshire track. Still showing signs of inexperience, he can only improve and looks a nice prospect.

The featured horses had a productive on Monday, too, with Christmas Gift (6/4) winning at the third time of asking at Windsor. A homebred filly belonging to Westerberg, the Andrew Balding trained runner is included in the Unraced Three Year Olds section. Having shown promise in a couple of runs over seven furlongs, the daughter of No Nay Never appreciated the step up to a mile at the Thames track and never looked like getting beaten. Well backed beforehand, Oisin Murphy's mount sat in second position for much of the race before smoothly going to the front. A two and a quarter lengths winner, it will be interesting to see what marks she is allocated. 

For those readers who follow the French racing scene, it was pleasing to see Safia get her career back on track in Listed company at Longchamp on Sunday. Featured in the Appendix on page 141, Fabrice Chappet's filly had disappointed in a Group 3 over a mile last time. Stepped up to ten furlongs and dropped in grade at the Parisian track, she won in good style by a length and a half. The Sottsass filly looks worth another try in Group races.
