Top 40 entry Mezzo Soprano (85/40) got off the mark at the fifth attempt this season when registering a narrow victory at Kempton on Wednesday evening. The Simon and Ed Crisford trained filly had run well at the Sunbury track on her previous start and confirmed it with a neck win in the seven furlongs handicap off a mark of 83. The four year old's form figures on the all-weather is now 131 and she can hopefully follow up before the end of the year.

I am working at York's final two meetings of the year on Friday and Saturday and will therefore update the Diary over the weekend. Autumn Update subscribers have a strong hand for the Cesarewitch Handicap on Saturday - fingers crossed for a strong end to the season.
