William Haggas described the unraced Manaar (8/1) as "a very nice unraced filly who I like. She has matured mentally and physically during the winter" on page 100 of Ahead On The Flat. The half-sister to the stable's multiple Group 1 winner Dubai Honour made a winning start to her career in the nine furlongs novice stakes at Newbury on Thursday. Picking up strongly, the daughter of St Mark's Basilica won going away and is very much one for the future. She can only improve, especially over further. It was top-class information by William and only available in Ahead On The Flat.
Talking of the Somerville Lodge team, William has kindly sent me a list of his runners for Royal Ascot, including which ones will wear headgear for the first time, plus his riding arrangements, which make for interesting reading especially in the handicaps. Details of those will be included in the Royal Ascot Update - please head to the Publications section of the site, if you haven't already ordered a copy.
