The Top 40 Prospects in AOTF continue in excellent form with Antipodes (4/1) making it two out of two this season in the valuable ten furlongs handicap at York on Friday. Gelded during the winter, the son of Starspangledbanner defied an absence of 319 days when scoring on his belated seasonal reappearance at Windsor last month. Raised six pounds, Roger Varian's lightly raced four year old improved once again to beat fifteen rivals on the Knavesmire. Always to the fore, Ray Dawson's mount battled on gamely to prevail by a head. Entered in the John Smith's Cup over the same C&D (11th July), he appreciated the step up to a mile and a quarter and is open to further improvement.
Bromley's Best Buys continues to churn out the winners, too, with Underdog (10/1) scoring on his debut at Sandown. By first season sire Perfect Power, the Richard Spencer trained colt won the five furlongs novice stakes at the Esher track. Racing keenly early on, he picked up well under Saffie Osborne to win going away by a length and a half. Bought for £140,000, the same section highlighted another first time out winner Flying Pirate (4/1) at Salisbury on Tuesday.
Many thanks to those clients who have purchased the three Ahead On The Flat Updates, including the Royal Ascot version which will be emailed on Sunday. The response has been terrific and very much appreciated. There is still time to order a copy - please head to the Publications section of the site.
