Gavin Cromwell's terrific run of form continued at Punchestown on Monday with Will The Wise scoring readily in the staying maiden hurdle. Featured in the Irish Pointers section in One Jump Ahead, the Well Chosen gelding was scoring at the fourth time of asking over timber. Placed behind the highly regarded Final Demand at Limerick over Christmas, the six year old readily brushed aside his seven opponents here. Jumping neatly, he led at the seventh and was firmly on top at the line registering a length and a half win. A step up to three miles will suit in due course and it would be no surprise if he is given an entry in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. Chasing will be his job next term.
