Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies have their team well forward and in good form at present and a few days after Masked Man made a striking impression at Chepstow, stablemate Un Sens A La Vie did likewise at Market Rasen on Tuesday. Both youngsters feature in Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section in One Jump Ahead and the pair look set to contest Graded novice hurdles at some stage this winter. A point winner for Denis Murphy prior to being bought for £180,000 in November last year, the Muhtathir gelding impressed when scoring in a bumper at Market Rasen in February. The five year old returned to the Lincolnshire track for a maiden hurdle and was backed accordingly. Sent off 2/7 favourite, Sam Twiston-Davies' mount jumped well by and large, although he wasn't fluent two out, before outclassing his six opponents to win readily by seven and a half lengths. The Race Iq data states that he covered two of the last three furlongs in 12.58 and 12.56 seconds. Stiffer tasks lie ahead but it wouldn't be a surprise if he emerged as a contender for the Grade 1 Formby Novices' Hurdle at Aintree on Boxing Day - the same connections won the prize last year with Potters Charm last term. The £80,000 Grade 2 Newton Novices' Hurdle at Haydock (22nd November) could be his next assignment.
