It was pleasing to see Top 40 entry Durham Castle make a step forward from his reappearance run at Haydock to win the six furlongs handicap at Windsor on Monday evening. The Simon and Ed Crisford trained four year old was drawn wide at the Merseyside track last month and lacked the speed to get involved. With that run under his belt, he looked sharper here and quickened up to take the lead and readily put the race to bed. Despite his victory being gained on fast ground, he gives the impression he will be better still on a slower surface. As discussed in the Royal Ascot Update, a race such as the Scottish Stewards Cup at Hamilton next month will be ideal - a stiff six furlongs.
Talking of the Royal meeting, there is still time to order a copy of the AOTF Royal Ascot Update. Please go to the Publications section of the site, if you haven't already done so.
