Subscribers to the Cheltenham Festival Update will be aware that there were a sprinkling of Flat horses to look out for during the first few weeks of the turf season. They included recent winners Old Cock (9/2), Raafedd (11/4) and Teroomm (5/6 twice), plus Qirat and Stressfree who both finished second in competitive handicaps at Ascot and York respectively. The latest victory was provided by Blue Bolt (100/30), who is also featured in the Unraced Three Year Olds section in Ahead On The Flat. The Andrew Balding trained filly improved on her debut run at Southwell to win impressively at Windsor on Monday evening. A daughter of Blue Point, she is a half-sister to dual middle distance Listed winner Sea Theme and appreciated the step up in distance at the Thames track. Making all the running, the Juddmonte owned filly stretched away inside the final furlong to win hard held by four lengths. I would like to dedicate her victory to the subscriber who emailed immediately after her debut run. Patience is a virtue.
