Thank you very much to those clients who have emailed on Sunday following an excellent afternoon for the November Update - it is greatly appreciated. Without being greedy, it could have been even better had Crebilly (advised @ 8/1) stayed on his feet at the second last in the novices' handicap chase. Frustratingly, Jonjo O'Neill's runner had jumped beautifully throughout the two and a half miles contest and didn't do a lot wrong at the penultimate fence either other than failing to find his landing gear. We will never know what would have happened but the J.P.McManus owned runner appeared to be going better than the eventually winner Ginny's Destiny.
However, Malina Girl (advised @ 12/1) and Iberico Lord (7/1) ensured it was a successful afternoon later on the card. The former was given a terrific waiting ride by Sean Flanagan following up her win in the Ulster National at Downpatrick last spring. The mare pulled clear after the second last to beat the front running Cloudy Glen by ten lengths. Gavin Cromwell's horses have been in superb form this Autumn and he added four more winners to the tally over the weekend. Unexposed over staying trips, Malina Girl is only 15.3hh but she is tough and handles any ground.
Iberico Lord was also given a confident ride in the Greatwood Hurdle looking a well handicapped young horse throughout the two miles trip. Travelling well on the inside, the ex-French gelding was produced at the last before staying on strongly to readily reel in Lookaway before stretching away. A two and a half lengths winner off a mark of 126, the five year old is improving all the time and hails from the same source as stablemate and Friday's winner Impose Toi, namely Daniela Mele in France. Stablemate Luccia ran well in third but once again suggested she is at her best on flatter track - The Gurkha mare is tailormade for the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury in February.
Overall, the selections in the November Update at Cheltenham over the three days produced form figures of 16261F11P2. The winners being Impose Toi (11/4), Springwell Bay (85/40), Malina Girl (12/1) and Iberico Lord (7/1).
