While it was disappointing to see Economics only finish fifth in the Group 1 Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, the Top 40 Prospects in AOTF was amongst the winners over the weekend. Elizabeth Jane, who finished an excellent fourth in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh in July, bounced back from a disappointing run last time to win a Listed contest at Leopardstown on Sunday. The Dermot Weld trained filly was heavily supported beforehand and was given a confident ride by Chris Hayes. Held up in the ten furlongs event, the daughter of Dubawi made smooth headway rounding the home turn before hitting the front inside the final furlong. Pushed out to score by a length and three quarters, her trainer indicated afterwards that she will stay in training next year. Lightly raced, she is capable of winning at Group level next term with twelve furlongs viewed as her optimum trip.
The Talking Trainers section in One Jump Ahead continue to churm out the winners, including Idy Wood (2/1), Circuit Breaker (7/2) and Rubaud (9/4) at Kempton Park on Sunday. Mr Percy is highlighted as a horse to follow in the Changing Codes section and the Joseph O'Brien trained four year old got off the mark at the second attempt over obstacles when scoring by three and a quarter lengths at Limerick on Saturday.
