There were two runners in the Top 40 Prospects at Lingfield on Sunday and, while Saint Segal threw away another valuable prize with some clumsy jumps in the two miles handicap chase, Inthewaterside (4/1) scored on his handicap debut in the concluding novices event. Racing off a mark of 120, Paul Nicholls' youngster appreciated the return to two and a half miles and made all the running. Defending off the challenge of He's A Latchico after the last, Harry Cobden's mount stayed on strongly to win going away by over two lengths. He threatens to be even better over three miles and fences in time.
