Significantly gave Julie Camacho another big race winner when leading close home in the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday. Purchased out of Karl Burke's yard for 50,000gns in October last year, the Garswood gelding had gone close in the Portland Handicap a week earlier. Veteran Joe Fanning retained the ride on the five year old and they overcame traffic problems to wear down Ramazan in the shadows of the post. A neck scorer, it was the stable's twentieth winner of 2023 which includes two Group 1 wins for Shaquille in the Commonwealth Cup and July Cup.
Shining Jewel (11/4) provided the Maidens In Waiting section in Ahead On The Flat with another winner at Newmarket on Saturday. The Siyouni filly won by four lengths at Chelmsford on her previous start and followed up on the Rowley Mile on her handicap debut. Racing off a mark of 91, the Charlie Appleby trained filly led with over a furlong to run before stretching away to win decisively. She looks ready for a rise in class and won't look out of place in a Pattern event before the end of the year.
The first copies of One Jump Ahead are due to be sent out on Monday and the remainder will be despatched during the rest of the week.
