On Wednesday, I interviewed Owen Burrows for Ahead on The Flat. Sir Michael Stoute's former assistant enjoyed a good season in 2025 with 32 winners at a strike-rate of 21%. The stable were responsible for ten Pattern winners, including Waardah in the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood last summer. With an emphasis on quality over quantity, Owen has some exciting prospects for the new campaign with at least two potential Classic contenders. In addition, there is a strong team of older horses at Farncombe Down Stables.
I shall be conducting more interviews for AOTF later this week before heading to Paul Nicholls' yard at Ditcheat over the weekend. The fourteen times champion trainer worked some of his leading Festival hopes at Kempton on Tuesday and I will pass on news on them and the other leading lights from the yard in the One Jump Ahead Cheltenham Festival Update (available to purchase via the Publications section of the site).
It was a productive afternoon for the featured horses in One Jump Ahead with Halftheworldaway (8/13), Harry Lowes (5/2) and Aguellid (4/6) all scoring. The first and second named are included in Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers, while the last named was another winner for the French Revolution section.
