I am working at Aintree tomorrow for Racing TV and will therefore update the Diary more thoroughly early next week. However, it was another decent afternoon of results for followers of One Jump Ahead on Saturday. Lucinda Russell had an across the card double with Smoke Trail (9/1) winning on his Rules debut at Kelso, while stablemate Conman John (4/1) produced a fine front running performance to maintain his unbeaten record over hurdles at Cheltenham.
The most pleasing result of the day though was Thistle Ask (5/4) winning on his first run for Dan Skelton at the Borders track. Featured in the Stable Switchers section in OJA, the eight year old was bought out of James Ewart's yard for 11,000gns in May and he beat four rivals by upwards of seven lengths in the two miles one handicap chase. Making all and racing enthusiastically, he barely came off the bridle to win hard held of a mark of 115. Inevitably, he is set for a hefty rise but remains to open considerable improvement for his new connections.
Orders received for One Jump Ahead over the weekend will be posted on Monday morning.
