I Play County (7/1) provided another winner for Declan Phelan's Irish Pointers section in One Jump Ahead scoring in gutsy fashion in the concluding bumper at Taunton on Tuesday. The Doyen gelding had run well on his two previous starts since joining Toby Lawes and deserved the win here. Always to the fore, the five year old fended off challengers in the home straight and is a nice prospect for hurdling next Autumn.
The Cheltenham Festival Update also continues to unearth winners with Mickley (11/8) the latest success at Southwell on Tuesday evening. As clients will be aware, Ed Bethell has had the seven furlongs novice stakes in mind for sometime for his promising three year old and he didn't let his supporters down with authoritative display pulling away inside the final furlong to register a near four lengths victory. He, too, is a smashing prospect for the short and long term.
Having spent the majority of Tuesday proof reading, I am taking Ahead On The Flat to the printers on Wednesday and then, once the lay out and page numbers have been added, it will be ready for printing. The plan is to get it all finalised before the Easter break. Thank you once again to all those who have ordered your copy - it is much appreciated. Please head to the Publications section to order your copy, if you haven't already done so.
We have also posted out letters with full details of AOTF and the Updates to previous clients - if anyone would like one, please email me at mark.howard@mhpublications.co.uk
