VRC & Stable Switchers winner Al Shabab Storm @ 22/1

Congratulations to Value Racing Club following Al Shabab Storm's victory in the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle on Friday evening. Purchased for 45,000gns in October, the Advertise gelding was a Group 3 and Listed winner a couple of years ago for Andrew Balding before joining Marco Botti. Having failed to win during 2025, he joined Mick Appleby last Autumn. Despite finishing unplaced in two runs at Chester and Thirsk, the five year old showed plenty of speed on both occasions over seven and a half and six furlongs. Fitted with a tongue tie and dropping back to the minimum trip for the first time, Conor Whiteley's mount led over a furlong out before staying on well to fend off the late challenge of the fast finishing Coralla Point to score by a neck. Featured in the Stable Switchers section of AOTF (page 129), it was a terrific result and I am delighted for James Couldwell, racing manager, and the members of Value Racing Club.
